Master of Puppets. |
Ride the Lightning Of course, my favorite video (when I first got it when dinosaurs roamed the Earth was on VHS!!) Cliff ‘em All….So, Kill ‘em All could be right up there… |
The best Metallica album? I think the one entitled ‘Led Zeppelin IV’ fits the bill. |
Load! Yes, I win, no one ever is gonna say Load! :P |
Load IS good. Plus, you get to say “Load.” Ride the Lightening, I thought, was sub par, however, “Fade to Black” off of that album my be a top 10 metallica song. |
Master Of Puppets is by far considered their best album. Kill ‘Em All is a close second, followed by AJFA. RTL seemed to be an album of filler, except for Fade To Black. That song was WAY ahead of it’s time. |

My favourite is actually and justice, but the production is horrible, followed closely my master, but I can’t stand “the thing that should not be”. tbh, i kinda find all metallica’s albums to be flawed diamonds – they’ve all got some great stuff I love, but they’ve also all got something on them or about them that makes them almost, but not quite my favourite one. |
i’d allow “kill ‘em all” diamond status. as pure, raw energy, i don’t see any other debut metal album that can touch it. plus, dave mustaine ripped it up on that album. before they shit-canned his ass. |

So I noticed no one has mentioned Black…That’s where it all changed. Am I to believe that I am not the only person in this group who does believe the theory of ‘Old Metallica’ and ‘New Metallica’? Tired argument, but… It was funny to watch, even them, in their butterfly collars and with their short hair, trying to say that it was all still the same. It so wasn’t. The music was not of the same breed (genre if you wanna get picky)...anyway… I can say that Metallica is still one of the tightest bands I have ever heard. I mean, they hit every note to perfection, together, everytime. That takes talent, so I am not trying to say that they lost talent, just that they did cange their style; affecting some fans and others, of the mainstream type, not so much. But if you’re a metal head…well, Nothing Else Matters…gah. |

Black was the changing factor for Metallica. You’re quite right about the Old and New. It’s completely different, but you could hear that through the years. AJFA was different than the albums before it. Though, KEA, RTL and MOP all had the same feel to them. AJFA was the beginning of the end. I remember the first time I saw them with their new ‘look.’ The ‘Until It Sleeps’ video came on MTV. I thought to myself, “Hey. That sounds like Metallica. But, it sure as hell doesn’t look like Metallica.” Sure enough, the end of the video, “Metallica – Until It Sleeps.” I didn’t stop crying for hours. |

They’re crap now and Het looks like a Santa on crack. Is anyone afraid of their upcoming album? |
Oh, “Death Magnetic”? First, what the hell kind of name is that? Second, I have a sincere feeling that this is going to be like Chinese Democracy when it’s finally released. Sure, everybody will flock there because they’ve been listening to Metallica since they were small and floating around in a sack. But, will it be quality? Only if you consider Britney Spears’ parenting abilities to be quality. |
So I’m listening to their new song The Day That Never Comes. |
Death Magnetic is out. |
Metalica – pah! Watch it until the end though. |

I have linkitis. I see links and I immediately close the page. Does that make me a naughty harpy? |
Does it matter? |
Indeed. I was afraid the link would take me to the live performances of mid-90s strumpet Whigfield. Then I realised that probably isn’t your scene. OK, I’ll link it up. Long live the links. |

Heard another new song on the radio today. Before the chorus, I swear it sounds like a karaoke gig. Sounds like you’re at a shoddy little bar, with a guy on stage singing a song you’ve never heard of. Then you look a little closer and realize that it’s James Hetfield. You proceed to worship the ground he walks on, solely for the Master Of Puppets album. Then cannon him in the face for S&M. Repeatedly. Then you leave. All jokes aside, I didn’t dig it. Supposedly, it was going to be a throwback to their olden days, but it seems like they’re just trying to hard to re-find a niche that they lost years ago. It’s time for them to hang up their picks and raise their kids. Just my opinion, though. |

Buy Justin Timberlake because the man is super – freaking – talented! Imma metal head and all, but I love EVERYTHING on ‘Future Sex Love Sound’…truly a phenomenal effort and success. :P :O Shocking, I know :) |
Would be even better if I could hear him. Why does he sing, I mean whisper, on like 10dBA? |
“LALALALALALA, I can’t HEAR YOU!!” Oh, but I can still see this page. But I’ll pretend not to have |
Musically I think DM’s all right. Lyrically it seems like they’re just phoning it in. |

I have to be honest. I won’t listen to it until well after I’ve heard the opinions of everyone else. And then it will still be a while. I am not forcing any more new Metallica down my throat solely to regurgitate it. Especially when the whole memory of how great they were is becoming lost in translation of what they are. I’d be really upset to lose all respect for them as a band, so I can’t risk listening to their music. tnd, I think we posted at the same time :) I just now saw your reply. BUt yeah, go home and raise their kids: Brilliant! I know I was a mega-metal fan (and still am). I am also 33 years old. I love heavy music and am still addicted to it, but I certainly couldn’t create it any longer. I just know that if I tried to input on music, it would just be a facade of something I once was, because with this age has come a slight tendency to be swayed to another music style. To have my rage subdued simply by someone saying, “Damn! Chill, Dana!”. To get out of the pit before I have a broken limb. To cry over politics in stead of screaming about them. To forgive the one person who singlehandedly fucked up my life. Thus, if I were to try to write a metal song, what would be the topic of it? What pisses me off the most in this new stage of life as opposed to what pissed me off even 5 years ago? Well, everything pissed me off 10 years ago, but these days I am more frustrated with my son’s back talking. Finding out that 0.00% of your friends have any loyalty (and duck out on you in your VERY darkest hour) is frustrating, but a lesson I needed to learn. And while all legitimate reasons to get mad, I doubt many metal fans would be interested. My son’s reaction to my frustration is much more apt to sell in that genre. |

Wow Karma, you’re in a fine emo mood. Maybe you would like the album. Just look at the titles of the songs: I bet it comes with a set of razors. And tissues. Just E-mail Lars that you think his album stinks so bad it isn’t even worth downloading. |
