Review Preferences Not Working?
|
|
I’ve had my review preferences set to receive review requests only from certain categories. A lot of them, such as short story, sci-fi, action, crime, horror, etc. I did this to specifically exclude shorter works such as poetry and flash fiction, and to exclude things I wouldn’t know what to do with. Yet my queue keeps filling up with these damnable 6-word autobiographies and with poetry. What gives? Not a comment on quality, but on numbers, but these things are numerous as roaches. Should I have to use up my skip limits on things I specifically said I didn’t want to see in the first place? |

Because people put those in all sorts of categories. This has actually been discussed elsewhere in the forums. It IS frustrating, but there’s not a whole hell of a lot we can do until this opportunities shtick runs out. That’s part of the reason that I took a vacation from Urbis proper, because I was tired of the Focused Review Queue being filled up with that crap. My suggestion is to go to the specific genre you want to review, then pick a story out of there. I know it’s frustrating, but there’s not much we can do. |

Fear ye not. The closing date is upon us, whereupon 6 word memoirs will be banished into the abyss, ne’er to return. |

Unless you buy the resultant book… or get the t-shirt, I guess. |

I do what TND said; I go straight to whatever genre I am in the mood to review and bypass the queue’s on most occasions, even before the memoir contest started. |
