OPEN - Let observed items be randomely reviewed
Ok, Urbis says: That is an item that is currently in my Requested/Specific review queue. What I’m saying is that when random reviewing is ON we should be able to review items no matter how we got to them, right? |
I think that’s so you can’t rate it. You’re able to review it with full-metal bias, but rating it is frowned upon with bias. At least, I think that’s the logic there. |
tnd is correct. We do a lot to make sure ratings are not tainted. Random reviews cannot rate items. |
Aah, didn’t realize randoms can’t rate, interesting, I see the logic :) |
No, I understand what you’re saying. I had the same problem. I like your idea. If it was that way, then at least we wouldn’t have to do a search for a piece if we wanted to read it again. Good call, jebozid. |

::offers cool washcloth:: You’d better feel extra special. I don’t even agree with my wife most of the time. :D |

We could to that, but it might be confusing. With Earned review, you earn credits immediately upon completion. With Random reviews, you earn after the review is unlocked. If viewing an item turns it into a Random Review, it may upset reviewers who expected credits immediately. |

Steve - Perhaps put a notice up at the top (or bottom) letting the reviewer know this. It’s a pain in the arse to try and track down a piece, especially if you’ve already gone through it. For example. I read jebozid’s piece on the state of the world. I notice that they use the word ‘and’ three hundred and forty times in six sentences. I want to let them know this, but since the reviews start anonymously, it’s a pain to try and track them down to let them know this. jebozid’s idea (I think) is to : type up review. When it pops up saying “You can’t do this”, it transfers over to a ‘random review’. At this point, there’s a box that tells the reviewer this. Reviewer reads said box and types review anyway. jebozid signs on three years later and reveals review, reviewer receives credits. In a nutshell, as long as you have something that let’s the reviewer know, they can’t really complain. Besides. If a reviewer is just looking for credits, then maybe we should start selling them on Ebay. |

Exactly, a simple note and that kind of redirection would be ubersweet! |
Sure, we can add a link to the “You can’t do this” notice so that you may randomly review it instead. |

Steve, you rock like the 80’s wanted to. |
