Hi, I lose italics when I post my poetry and prose. It posts them in normal font. I have put a “lower hyphen” before and after the line, but that doesn’t work. Any ideas. ITALICS

Also, my lines come up double spaced if I have a hard line break(hitting just ENTER). It looks better with a soft line break (pressing SHIFT and ENTER). Any ideas?

I am using Microsoft Word: all the settings are correct for formatting.

Any help would be appreciated. Sincerely, Gbryan.

Urbis uses HTML coding. This’ll help: http://beginhtml.blogspot.com/2007/12/bold-italic-underline-texts.html

You can also use <s></s> for strikethroughs.

I thought there was going to be some special Urbis formatting like BBCode. Haha.

Would anyone know if you could fool Urbis with css?
e.g. attatching a style tag to a div container or changing the background color?
Just curious.

Edit: Can’t do mad smiley’s :[

sort of thing?

like this?

Avatar owl_light 14 posts

Italics .

start tag with an i then closing tag with a /i
in other words

start with <
then i
then >
then write your text
then close your text with <
followed by /
followed by i
followed by >

If i reproduce the format exactly it will not reproduce on the screen for you to see so if I do it like this
{i} text {/i}
you can see what I mean but instead of { and } use < and>

:-)

So I might as well insert another plea for reviews of A Comedy of Murders by owl_light here but since it’s in italics that makes it OK. Duntit?

I think we should have a post where we communicate merely in hyperlinks. To understand what this means, follow this link:

I can make your link change colour but its a road to nowhere.
Now here’s a link worth following.

You’re upsetting me with your false links which claim to take one to naughty places, but which actually go nowhere. I’m going to retaliate with a fantastic display of formatting know-how…

Would one ever be so bold

As to lean towards a forum fold

And shout at those assembled there

I mean what I say but do not care

For those that talk all low and deep

Or way up high, and do not sleep

When sat at computers late into the night

Trying to get their formatting right.

I might go and post that as a poetry item. It’ll confuse the hell out of everyone who doesn’t come onto these forums.

One look at that and most everyone on Urbis will get it :) I get people all the time asking how I did italics or bold in their review. I’ve even done one in red :) Add a colorful line to your poem!!

Avatar Jebozid 1078 posts

How do you do red? A quick tutorial please, Karma!

{color:blue} And give away my pretty, pretty secret? NEVER
p(#big-blue) NEVER!!!

Okay, since you asked nicely ;)

without spaces…

% { color : red } red text here %

Here’s a quick reference link. Perhaps Bravis will find it useful for her heling with format tutorial thread she is working on:

red

Ummm; it doesn’t work here in the forums. But it does work in the review box. Not sure if it does on the item submission or not…I’ll run a test later :)

Muchos gracias! Let’s paint this town…ehm…pink obviously!

Oi! Who said I was working on a format help sheet. I have a life you know…

Glad to hear the colour thing works in the review box. I’ll have some fun with that one when I have the time.
