When do you think Urbis has the highest number of users online? I was thinking the weekend… But then again, perhaps people stray from the internet in favor of doing “people things”. Mondays? Wednesdays? I’m perplexed.

I gets more responses on Thursdays.

I think at night, almost any days.

Cool. Of course this is a totally “unscientifical” survey as a multitude of different variables factor in to who or what gets a review, but I thought it would be interesting to hear people’s thoughts. Thanks SH and R.B.

With the international participation, I like to believe that at any given time there’s somebody doing something on Urbis. So whether I’m doing my posting/reviewing on a lunch break or at 1 a.m. doesn’t really matter. And I really noticed that when I increased my reviewing participation a few days ago, I saw a surge of feedback come my way on Thurs, Fri, and Sat. Of course that’s what we’re told- review and your work shall be reviewed- but it was just cool to see how true it was.

I seem to wake up to a large number of reviews… well… when I have credits. LOL

Thanks, you lovely Brits, you!

Curious. What do you consider a lot of credits? Sometimes I get no reviews for weeks when I’ve been reviewing like hell and think I have lots of credits.

Hmm… up to 4000 credits for a major posting (novel/short story) will get you a fine batch of reviews (with perhaps four or five refunds).

Likewise 3000 would get you a reasonable stack of opinions.

I think 2000 and less, then you are likely to get a mixed bag of helpful and space-filling baloney.

1000 or less… get more credits.

I try to keep a minimum of 1000 credits, but it’s hard. I don’t write long reviews. I come to the point, say what I think can be improved, give my razor-sharp proofreading notes, and go get another glass of wine. I have found that if I write more than six reviews an evening (your afternoon in N. America) I’m too schnockered to read my own reviews.

I usually get 10000 credits before posting anything new be it a 4000 word short or 100 drabble or a 50 word poem or a 11 word haiku.

I’ve saved near 4000 so far, i’m thinking on reposting old works to get them sorted once n for all, and listening to advice, providing it is done properly, ie not insults or silly useless reviews. But i’m not putting them in the pro queue because i can’t afford pro as loads of my money is going towards the harrogate babershop convention, hote bill. I’m not working so my budget only stretches so far lol. I’d like to of kept my works on here but thats not the way if i wanted to use pro, so looks like the RG’s will see a lot of my refund requests in their queues.

10000 credits?

I’ve need such a princely sum. You don’t take bribes by any chance?

I have triple chocolate ice cream with lashings of chocolate sauce and a chocolate flake.

Plus some additional chocolate for afters.

Whoops… I’ve never seen such a princely sum is what I meant.

Less absinthe after breakfast, I think.

Avatar Curtastrophe 581 posts

Yum yum! Chocolate and absinthe. Delicioso!

At some point, we will be able to buy and sell credits from and to other members on Urbis… that is in the works… so even if you have nothing to post, reviewing is an investment. Earn those points!
