OPEN - Message All Friends
I would love it if we could set up groups for messaging. I have posted a new story today, and I wanted to notify all my friends, some of my fans, and some of my invitees (who haven’t approved me as a friend yet) to review the piece for me. I had to cut and paste the message 20+ times – took me an hour to do as I had to go to each person to message them (Yeah… friends I can do it from my own dashboard, but the others I couldn’t.) Thanks! |
I agree with that, plus it is also good for wishing people a happy New Year etc |
Agree also. |
It’s on the list. |
Hi Steve, |
We all know you have fans DC, you don’t have to be a show off ;P (J/K of course!!) |
That’s so funny. I didn’t think about how arrogant that sounded. Sorry. !! :))) But it is difficult when you have to send individual messages to sooooooo many people. |
:D You know…while you all are on the topic (I’m OT, as usual ;P)...um…wouldn’t it seem (as I thought it was) that if someone is our ‘fan’, they should receive notification everytime you submit a peice? Otherwise, they just kinda seem there for show. I know if I were to become someone’s ‘fan’, I would expect to be contacted when the person who I am a fan of puts more work on this site. I kinda thought that was the whole idea. Like they are now ‘subscribing’ to your links? I mean, when Dean Koontz (we have a love/hate relationship going) or Kelley Armstrong or Laurell K Hamilton release a new book I am certainly in the know. What is the point of being someone’s fan if I don’t get the first chance to read the new material? Just to get my face on their page as well? |
I just added myself as a DC_Karma fan. :) |
Awwww… :D I am sooooo freaking POPULAR!!! ::Poses for the paparrizi:: (not even a slight clue how to spell that, but if I just put ‘paps’ it would have sounded a lot worse!!!) |
Well, I don’t have any Fans yet, but a lot of people have asked for my reviews. I’m not Miss Popularity, but hey, COULD WE STICK TO THE TOPIC PLEASE, instead of comparing credentials? Personally, I don’t want paparazzi following me. Look what happened to Princess Diana. |
Di had it pretty good, except for those last couple of minutes. And the divorce. And having to deal with the fact that her ugly husband was in love with an ugly woman. I like to call Camilla “the goatwoman”. Tragic, really. The topic, however, was adding the “Message all Friends” feature, which I had changed to “Message all Fans” feature. The are mainly 35-year-old housewives from Iowa who read one of my stories and never returned to Urbis. I’m big in Iowa. |
Jesus, I was just kidding, as we do in the forums. I don’t really think I’m popular, nor do I care. I don’t truly believe that paps are following me around or that they ever will. So sorry to have gone off topic, Boss. Pretty sure your post was off topic as well. Please stay on topic! Oh yeah…I think a ‘message all friends’ and a ‘message all fans’ link would be useful. Ha! There’s on topic for ya. |
Okay this is a bit off the topic (again), but Karma – how do you do that four dot symbol for bookending a thought or action? I’m trying to be a bit more internet chat room savvy but lack the appropriate punctuation. |
Heh, it’s an easy one…it doesn’t require formatting :D Just tpye a colon (:) twice, ::like so:: In most other forums or chats I’ve been to online, the most common way people do that is with the asterick (*) at each end, but when you do that here, you get bold print ;P But yeah, message friends in bulk good! (Staying on topic…don’t wanna get bitched at; not that anyone ELSE cares, but still, I’m grumpy and that comment rubbed me the wrong way – I only like to be rubbed during foreplay or a massage…) |
Two colons. Oh yeah. Duuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrr… As for the staying on topic – you really expect people to stay on topic now that you’ve ended your message with the words “foreplay or a massage”? Tsk. |
Don’t feel bad…I had never seen that used before I started chatting in these forums; and it did take me a few to figure that one out ;) MESSAGE ALL FRIENDS! |
Yeah yeah. You’re just saying that to make me feel better. Oh, and message all friends… whatever. |
I don’t expect us to stay on topic; put simply, we’re writers. We write a lot and our brains can have 500 seperate thoughts at once. Staying on topic is nearly impossible. Hell, even to tell us to STAY ON TOPIC, someone had to stray off-topic. What gives? Hehe, foreplay and massages…go OT all u want..Imma try to get in to see my Massage Therapist :D |

I like the way Billy Connolly describes his thought processes. Most people think forwards – straight line – this, then that, then that. He says he thinks sideways. Someone says something to him and his mind zooms off in two different directions at once. I feel like that sometimes, especially on this forum where I’m often having conversations about several things at once, often with the same person. Like now for example. What are we talking about again? Oh yeah, massages… Or was it lions? |
slaps whip on table. I would like to bring this forum back to the very very important topic of Messaging All Fans. It seems that a few “users” have been making sport of this idea, and I don’t like it. Not at all. Yes, OK, this forum thread started as “Messaging All Friends”, but who gives a flying Fanula Sweeny about your Urbisfriends? They never review your work anyway. Your fans are the people who love you. Me. And I’d like to send them a collective thank you. Lord knows it’d take me days to thank them all individ’lly. |
And just for that, I am no longer a fan of yours, Allen. Your loss. ;) |
Heehee, that did sound arrogant… |
Messaging friends and/or fans is really what is needed. |
Oh, come on, fellas. I was just kidding. I’m really the humblest, meekest, modest-est, best-looking guy around. Oh, wait. Did I slip again? |
